7 reasons why the suction pressure of the chiller is too low

There are many reasons why the suction pressure of the refrigeration unit is too low, including the refrigerant filter valve is blocked, not fully opened, insufficient refrigerant filling, etc. The following briefly introduces common faults and their solutions.

Fault 1: The refrigerant filter is blocked. The refrigerant filter has an important filtering function and should be kept unobstructed. If blockage occurs, the filter needs to be cleaned or replaced regularly.

Fault 2: The expansion valve is improperly adjusted or fails. If this phenomenon occurs, it is recommended to adjust it correctly or troubleshoot it immediately, and replace it if necessary.

Fault 3: The refrigerant liquid outlet valve of the condenser is not fully opened. It is reported that if the refrigerant liquid outlet valve of the condenser is not safely opened, the refrigeration unit will have a low suction pressure. At this time, the valve should be fully opened.

Fault 4: Insufficient water passing through the evaporator. In this case, the cooling capacity will also decrease and the cooling effect will be poor. Users should check the water pump and water valve in time.

Fault 5: Excessive lubricating oil circulates in the refrigeration system of the chiller. If a lot of lubricating oil is found in the refrigeration system, the cause should be found out and reduced to an appropriate value.

Fault 6: When the inlet water temperature of the evaporator is too low, the refrigeration effect is poor. The inlet water temperature setting value should be increased.

Fault 7: Insufficient water passing through the evaporator. In this case, the refrigeration capacity will also decrease and the refrigeration effect will be poor. Users should check the water pump and water valve in time.

In addition, since the cooling water of the chiller is an open circulation loop, the tap water generally used is circulated through the cooling tower. When the calcium and magnesium salts in the water are high, it is easy to decompose and deposit on the cooling water pipe to form scale, thereby affecting heat transfer. "If the scale is too thick, the flow cross-section of the cooling water will also shrink, the water volume will decrease, and the condensation pressure will rise."

It is recommended that when users find that the water quality of the cooling water of the refrigeration unit is poor, it is recommended to make a regular cleaning plan and clean the cooling water pipe at least once a year to remove scale and other dirt in the pipe to prevent pipe blockage.

After eliminating the above seven faults, if the user still cannot find the cause, he can contact the manufacturer for repair services.
